Biography

My first woodworking business began at the age of 10.

I made a wooden replica of a folding knife and showed it my schoolmates – that resulted in three orders at $5.00 each.

In my twenties, while working as a critical care nurse, I began to build custom furniture for friends and work colleagues. That opened a door to leave my work in the hospital and to launch a custom furniture shop in Waterloo County, Ontario.

I began to design and built custom reproductions and artistic furniture for private clients. As well, I supplied Mission-style furniture for a high-end store in Toronto, which gave me the privilege of furnishing the Ontario Premier’s office with an accent chair.

Since then, in addition to having my woodworking projects featured in magazines, I have also been invited to speak at woodworking shows and to provide consulting services for local furniture retailers who needed expert advice on product quality and process efficiency.

In 2005, I returned to health care and began working as an executive coach and consultant to support organizations and leaders in their efforts to learn and grow, to improve operations, and to adapt to change.

However, I have not lost my passion for making furniture. As I set aside time in my busy schedule to create with both my hands and my mind, I find that this activity only enhances my abilities and effectiveness as a coach and consultant.

I look forward to creating works of art that you will enjoy and cherish for a lifetime.
